Shopbop Friends & Family Sale: The Purchases

I promised myself that if Shopbop had a F&F sale before Paul and I go on our big trip in July, I would reduce my spending money saved and buy some treasures. 25% off is not to be sniffed at when you're eyeing up a $430 scarf!

This time I bought three things, all of which I already own, from brands I know and trust.

My White + Warren heather grey cashmere scarf/wrap has paid for itself since I took the plunge and bought it in 2015. So this time I bought the black one with a plan to wear it at my niece's wedding in Denmark in July (more about that in another post!). If you've never tried cashmere and need a very warm garment, it leaves merino in the shade:

More cashmere, and the same idea. I adore my grey Equipment crew-neck jumper so much, I decided to buy it in black:

All arrived safe and sound and I love each item. Another example of quality vs quantity in action. Now, if it would just get cooler so I can wear all that cashmere!

Oamaru Easter Weekend

Paul and I visited my folks in Oamaru this Easter weekend. We just snuck in before the cold weather started so it was cool and fresh - a welcome respite from Auckland humidity.

Oamaru is about an hour and a half drive north of Dunedin. An arty town, huge limestone buildings adorn the streets, many having benefited from recent restoration projects such as the Opera House. It's the Steampunk capital of the Southern Hemisphere and boasts a picturesque harbour.

Photo opportunities abound, starting with my hanging with the toadstools at Oamaru Public Gardens...

The town itself is very pretty and quirky.

On Saturday afternoon we drove out to Elephant Rocks, an incredible natural earthwork.

On Sunday we met my brother and his partner and went for a walk around the harbour.

And of course, Mum and I indulged in a little retail therapy (her lovely scarf was a purchase that day!).

Shopbop Sale: What I Bought

Luckily for me, I have had these babies on my Shopbop favourites list for some time, waiting for the next friends and family 25% off sale. So it was a cinch to just pop them in my cart and purchase before stock ran out.

I already own two pairs of Citizens of Humanity jeans (one Avedon). I bought another pair in a slightly different shade in a size up due to a little weight gain since I've been recovering from my surgery (no serious exercise for another 2 - 3 weeks I'm afraid).

The T by Alexander Wang striped top is one I have been thinking about for ages. Online reviews suggested sizing down, so I got the medium instead of the large. As my bust size was always the showstopper in the past, I'm hopeful that I can now get away with smaller sizes.

As for the Equipment cashmere jumper, well I have wanted one for ages. I see myself wearing this casually with blue skinny jeans and my Superga white sneakers. For work, with a black pencil skirt, black high heels and a chunky gold necklace.
