Mini-Break

Paul and I just returned from a couple of days at Rings Beach, just outside of Whitianga in the Coromandel. We stayed at Sea Escape, a self-contained bach on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was so tranquil and relaxing and we were blessed with hot and sunny weather. Apart from breakfasts and coffees at the fabulous French Fig cafe in town, we bought yummy food and wine and stayed in our cosy bach for the rest of the time.

The view from up there is breathtaking. The first thing we saw when we opened the door was intense blue ocean and native bush through the glass sliding doors which covered the back of the bach. We sipped our gin and tonics on the deck gazing at the view and then had our leisurely dinners as the last of the sun rays vanished. Later, rugged up, we watched the light fade and the stars come out, with a hot cup of tea in hand. Living in a city, you forget just how many stars there are visible in the night sky.

We slept with the bedroom sliding doors wide open and went to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach below. We were woken by the natural light and the sound of the sea.

A perfect getaway for couples and only two hours from Auckland. I can't recommend Sea Escape highly enough!
