Party Like it's 1987

1987 was the last time I owned a jean jacket. It was acid-wash and oversized. And I had matching jeans to go with it.

I've been admiring for some time the way women around my age have been styling denim jackets. Usually with a casual striped dress or skirt and tshirt, and white sandshoes. I believe I'd totally rock that look so I bought one!

I'm not a big fan of Max. To me, they've hardly updated their look since the 1990s. But theirs was the first I tried on and I loved it straight away.

 I also popped into Witchery and bought this cute little J brooch:

Autumn Inspiration

Liking Witchery's AW15 collection so far. I'm planning on wearing black skinny jeans,black ankle boots and cashmere this year. Loving these boots!

Cashmere + Leather

I've worn my Sass & Bide navy cashmere jumper so much over Winter. Bought in Melbourne in April, I had to wait until July for it to be cold enough in Auckland to wear. I'm new to cashmere. It's a gorgeous fabric, and so much warmer than merino.

Although an investment piece at NZ $400, I've been on the hunt for a quality cashmere jumper for about a year. This one is so versatile. I love how it looks with different fabrics, such as the smooth leather-look pencil skirt in the images below.

Now Spring is here, it will be lovingly wrapped in tissue and put into storage until next July!

Pastels are My Friends

I'm not normally a pastels kind of girl. When pastels roll around again in fashion, this equation usually comes front of mind: Pasty skin + Not a size 10 + Not 23 = YOU WILL LOOK TRAGIC IN PASTELS

So, I generally avoid them.

But this year, I have decided to decode pastels and try to make those bastards work for my body/skin tone/advanced age. Rather than source a garment from every colourway, I shall embrace blue and work it back with tan, white and gold. Here is what I have found so far on my online travels...

Black And Grey

So I was in Gregory in Newmarket (again!) this weekend, chatting to the lovely ladies and sharing my blog with them! I'm so excited that they emailed the link to their designer, so she can see how 'real' women interpret and wear the collection. I had another great shopping experience: their customer service is fantastic. Silk On Silk Part 1

I love silk and I wear a lot of it. I recently bought a new pair of silk harem pants from Gregory and I'm in love. They're not only stylish, they're also comfortable and versatile. And, as a bonus for those of us changing shape, they are not fitted but feature an elasticated waist and drawstring. Here I team them with a silk top of a contrasting print.

Sara took so many fantastic photos of me wearing the outfit below, it was hard to narrow them down. So I've decided to present them to you in three parts, starting now.

And... a little bit of sadness this week. A thief broke into our home on Monday night - while I was in the shower - and stole my black Country Road bag (shown below) and my new Karen Walker sunglasses in tortoiseshell. Sara's photos have come in handy as part of my insurance claim as our shoot last Sunday captured them both in crystal clarity!
