The Silk Shirt

I finally replaced my kelly green silk shirt I bought from Country Road a couple of years back with one almost identical:



I'd forgotten how versatile silk shirts are. I own a black one and a cream one, but am keen to source some more in striking colours like my new green one.

On blogs and in online stores I am seeing the versatility of this essential piece. Tucked into shorts, hanging loose with black skinny pants and ballet flats, teamed with a pencil skirt and heels for the office... the options are endless.

I have decided to search for two new silk shirts with a simple rule: no cream or grey!

40+ Celebrity Style: Sandra Bullock

Only recently has Sandra Bullock caught my attention in terms of style. Recent photos of the 49-year-old show an evolution in style that only age (and a great stylist) can bring. Her style is fashion-forward and contemporary, yet completely age-appropriate. She seems very comfortable in her own skin. Here are some of my favourite recent images of Sandra.

U.S-based design incubator Of a Kind is a great place to search for gifts from up-and-coming creative folk. The 'of a kind' name comes from the number of items that are available for sale. For example 100 of a kind or 10 of a kind. Check it out.

Metallica

Metallics are everywhere but it doesn't necessarily follow that this is an easy trend to wear. As a more mature member of society, it's my responsibility not to frighten children or pets so I have chosen to interpret this trend in a very subtle way.

This black tshirt from Country Road just hit stores. Its sheen is only very slight - more oil slick than metallic - but the effect is fantastic. Here I have teamed it with charcoal grey skinny jeans, my trusty point-toe heels and some chunky jewellery for a rock vibe:
